Developmental Milestones

What to expect from your baby at certain ages.

Kids and educational video games

It's been a while since I've written a blog post and it's mainly due to being extremely busy with two kids - a five year old and a two year old. They sure are a handful! :) Recently I've had to do a lot around the house because we're about to renovate the place so keeping the kids busy while I do work was not an easy task. Instead of putting the kids in front of the TV for an hour or so, I decided to buy some Wii games and Wii accessories for the kids to keep them busy.

Giving "Your Baby Can Read" a try

Update: There's a new release of the Your Baby Can Read that doesn't cost as much as the huge box set below. This release of Your Baby Can Ready includes 5 DVDs and double-sided, interactive word cards called Learn to Read and one wipe-clean with a erasable, non-toxic pen.

Problems pooping

I started to potty train my son at 2 years and 4 months.  Once he got the hang of it (in a few weeks) he was peeing and pooping on the potty.  It was kind of difficult to get him to poop on the potty, but eventually he would do it.  What he would do is sit on the potty for a second or two and say he was all done.  He would do this over and over again every few minutes so we knew he needed to poop.  He would also dance around to indicate that he had to go.  He always pee'd on the potty.  After 2 months of doing this he just stopped.  Now he won't even

My son learned his letters at 10 months old

At about 6 to 8 months old I started to teach my son his letters and evenually he became interested in the numbers too.  I began by put the bath toy letters and numbers in the tub with him while he bathed.  He loved those things.  He would take them everywhere with him, in the car, the supermarket, I mean everywhere.  Still at 2.5 years old he carries his letters with him.  Anyways, when he was younger in the bath he would hold up a letter up (and want to know what it was), I would tell him the letter and the sound until he could say it.  In no time he knew all

Potty Training and What Worked for Me

I started potty training my son two weeks ago.  My son is 2 years and 5 months old.  Since I am 5 months pregnant  and I don't want to have two kids in diapers I figured it was a good time to get started on potty training him.  So on Saturday morning (when my husband was home to help) I took the diaper off for good and put underwear on him.  I told my son no more diapers now he was becoming a big boy.  I sat him on his little potty several times during the day (every 15 minutes).

Tools that make potty training simple

I found a few hardcover books for potty training for both girls and boys that you can read to your child. The pictures in the books are pictures of real children on the potty, with easy to read and understand text and great colored pictures. The pictures of the real children capture your child's attention, help your child develop confidence and offer encouragement to your training toddler. I believe the books got my son interested in sitting on the potty.
